LG has published its financial results for the first quarter of this year, which reveals that while its TV sales are disappointingly low, they’re doing pretty good in the smartphone territory.

The Korean company has reportedly sold 10.3 million smartphones in the past three months, which as compared with Q1 2012, amounts to an increase of 110% growth. It’s also 20% more than the last quarter, which is quite impressive considering the fact the last quarter had a holiday season, when most companies experience a boost in sales.

While these numbers might not be near Samsung or Apple, it’s quite an improvement as compared to HTC’s weak smartphone results in this quarter. There’s no doubt that LG has experienced a huge boost in its smartphone sales, mainly due to the success of Nexus 4, Optimus G and Optimus G Pro.

The company is optimistic to experience even greater sales for this quarter, as Optimus G Pro is all set to release in U.S. next month and global roll out of updated L-series devices. With this pace, LG is surely to get itself up for a No.3 spot in the smartphone business in the near future. Are you planning on picking up the LG Optimus G Pro?
