Earlier this month, alleged model numbers for Samsung Tizen smartphones had leaked and today the Greek Tizen Community has posted several photos of Samsung’s first Tizen device, which carries the same model number as discovered before, GT-I8800, and carries the codename “Redwood”.

The phone runs Tizen 2.1 and features a 720p display. Also, the Tizen device apparently packs in few Samsung goodies found in Galaxy devices as well, such as S-Voice, Wi-Fi Direct and S-Beam.

If today’s leaked photos are believed to be of the actual device, then it seems like we’ll be seeing the Tizen smartphone that looks quite similar to the company’s own Galaxy smartphones. Also it’s worth noting that the icons in the menu screen are quite different as they have adapted the round/circle shape as opposed to rectangular shape found in Samsung’s Android devices.

We’re quite excited to see Samsung introducing the first ever Tizen smartphone into the market to compete with its Android counterpart this year. Even though there’s no further information regarding the release date, according to rumors Tizen smartphones are expected to penetrate the saturated smartphone market in the third quarter of 2013. Are you looking forward to the release of this device?
