We have been hearing quite a lot regarding the possible unveiling event of Galaxy Note 3 to take place at this year’s IFA, but a new report has emerged today that concurs with the launch date indicated by previous rumors and suggests that Samsung may launch its third-generation Galaxy Note smartphone earlier than expected to counter Apple’s upcoming iPhone models.

This report came out in the open by DigiTimes, according to which the Galaxy Note 3 as well as the Galaxy S4 mini would arrive in the third quarter to take on new iPhone versions. The Galaxy Note 3 would arrive in July-August, which is much earlier than the anticipated expected date.

The publication didn’t give any hint regarding the specs of Galaxy Note 3, as it only focused ton Apple’s iPhone plans for this year. According to the publication, Apple would launch two iPhone models in the third quarter of 2013 which includes a next iteration of their flagship iPhone and “low-cost iPhone model” that will be equivalent to the iPhone 4S in hardware specifications.

Also, the publication does say that iPhone shipments would start at the end of June, reaching a peak in August-September due to which Samsung is expected to ready its guns to counter Apple’s new smartphones launch, much before then it was supposed to.

With all that said, it’s worth noting that DigiTimes has a sketchy track record when it comes to reporting news, so take today’s rumor with a grain of salt. Are you looking forward to the release of next-gen iPhone or Galaxy Note 3?
